The Remington area is a cozy neighborhood in Baltimore with a tight knit community and plenty of local businesses and shops that regularly host events and promote each others businesses. The Remington Festival is an annual festival hosted by the Greater Remington GRIA which is a neighborhood association focused on serving the diverse community and also on fostering more green spaces. SSS was proud to be able to join in the community of local Remington and other Maryland businesses and nonprofits in getting to meet the community and enjoy the local arts, food, and music performances at RemFest.

Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Teen Takeover Event:
Activism Through the Arts

Picture
One of our founding members, Grace, starting off the presentation in the Teen Takeover event!
Over the 2021 summer, SSS connected with the vice president of the AMFA Teen Advisory Board, Ashley Fan and worked with the AMFA Teen Advisory Board, a group of teenage leaders that encourage art within their community. This was through the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts’ first ever teen takeover night, an event where teenagers hangout and learn about different types of art. The main theme of this event was “activism through the arts,” which included diverse artistic workshops to artists who inspired activism within and outside of their community. Through this event, we were introduced as guest speakers to an audience of engaging teens on what we do and how we incorporated activism through our stickers. We hoped to have inspired other teens in coming together in bringing change on pressing issues in our world today. Thanks to the efforts of AMFA, the AMFA Teen Advisory Board, and their adult sponsors, we were able to not only educate other aspiring teenage artists but also bring awareness about our cause.
